Question Luxons....

is there anyway to get to gayla hatchery or anything below maishong hills, without befriending the luxons?? I mean what point is aligning yourself with kurzicks if you have to do the luxons quest to open up the towns? or can you be a guest of a guild or go with someone who already has the outposts unlocked? Im trying to get an Incubator for black moa mini and to continue on the winds of change paths, and im stuck because im not a friend of the luxons and it's a little irritating

not that i know of... but getting 10k shouldnt be so hard (imo its easier than getting 10k kurz factions) and you need to do gayla hatchery too if you want protector and guardian titles

You're going to have to do the Befreinding quest. Fortunately, there are a couple of fairly quick ways to get the 10,000 faction required. If you've got Hard Mode unlocked for factions, you could vanquish Boreas Seabed (Today's ZV, BTW), or you could jump into FA or JQ and convert Imperial Faction to Luxon.

If you have another Character that has access to FA and/or JQ. You may farm the points in those pvp outposts very quickly comparing to doing VQ or side quests.

I've done befriending the luxons and kurzicks probably 30-40 times between my current and past characters, it's simple you don't have to donate the faction you just need to get 10k luxon and you're good and what you do with it either a. get jade shards ( for elite luxon armor if you need) or b. get 10 jade scrolls and you made 1k. it's not as bad as it seems. and @ AmyLynn- I have found a vanquish is quicker then farming jq/fa since those are 10-15 minute matches and you need to do 3 ish to get 10k, since i can vq almost any luxon zone in less than 30 minutes and get all the faction i need + more

You have to do befriending the luxons to continue with those things yes, it really is quite easy though so don't see much of a problem here.
To get protector, guardian, vanquisher titles, complete WoC etc. you need to do both luxon and kurzick sides. Regardless of what you chose to be initially or what your guild is.

What I know some people have done is that while they have the 10k unused faction they finish befriending on all/as many characters they can, and they only have to earn that faction once.

As several people have pointed out, you have to do the "Befriending the Luxons" quest to finish the Luxon side of Factions. Once you get the 10k faction, you can turn it in for Jade or whatever and then go back to what you were doing. Beyond that point you only need to have more Luxon faction than Kurzick in order to have merchants, etc, talk to you, but you can just go to your Guild Hall and use the merchant there if you want (and if your GH has one).

The important thing to note is that it makes no different which faction your Guild is aligned with, or even if it's aligned with any faction. You as an individual player can gain and lose either faction without it affecting you or your Guild's alignment. Your Guild's alignment really only matters for GvG PvP or 'owning' outposts, and, of course, you can't donate Luxon faction to a Kurzick Guild.
